Good journalism reflects the whole of society, not just the loudest or most powerful voices. GhanaNews24 is committed to diversity in the stories we tell, the people we quote and the people who work with us.
In our coverage
- We seek out sources across gender, age, ethnicity, religion, region, language, disability, social and economic background — and not only officials and experts.
- We report on communities across Accra, Greater Accra, Ghana, including rural areas and places that are often overlooked by national media, not only when something goes wrong.
- We avoid stereotypes and labels. We mention a person’s ethnicity, religion, disability, health, sexual orientation or other characteristics only when it is relevant to the story.
- We use the names and terms that people and communities use to describe themselves, and take care with the spelling of names in every language.
- Editors review coverage regularly to check whose voices are being heard and whose are missing.
In our newsroom
We recruit, commission and promote on merit, and we actively welcome applications and pitches from people with different backgrounds and perspectives, including women, young journalists, people with disabilities and contributors from outside major cities. We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment or bullying of any kind, and we provide fair pay and a respectful working environment for staff and freelancers.
Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to read our journalism. We write in clear language, describe images with alternative text, support keyboard and screen-reader navigation, and keep our pages fast on mobile networks.
