The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has submitted records relating to Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to a US federal judge for private review, according to court proceedings.
The documents have been provided to US District Judge Beryl Howell but remain under seal and have not been made publicly available.
The submission forms part of an ongoing legal process concerning records held by US authorities. Since the materials are sealed and are being reviewed privately by the judge, the contents and any findings from the documents cannot yet be independently established from the public record.
The development has attracted attention in Nigeria and among observers of US-Nigeria relations, particularly because of the continued public interest in Tinubu's records in the United States.
However, claims linking the sealed FBI records directly to difficulties faced by Nigerians seeking to enter the United States would require separate evidence.
